Drive-In or Drive-Thru?
Drive-in has a single entry face. The first pallet in is the last one out, so it suits long-dated product or lots that ship together.
Drive-thru opens at both ends. Load from one side, unload from the other, and stock moves first-in, first-out. You give up an aisle for that rotation.
Engineering Drive-In Pallet Rack Lanes
Lane width depends on the truck and the pallet, with clearance on both sides. Rail spacing must suit your pallet bottoms, and pallets arriving by rail through the Union Pacific or BNSF terminals are not always uniform.
Depth follows lot size. A ten-deep lane for an item bought in lots of six never fills. Height follows the shell, and DFW buildings range from 18 ft near Stemmons to 40 ft at the newer parks.
Protection and Guidance
Drive-in demands steady, careful operators more than any other pallet system. Because drivers operate inside the structure, we recommend floor-mounted entry guides and upright protectors at each lane mouth. At hand-off, we walk operators through loading sequence.
Working in Freezers and Texas Heat
Freezer installs run in shorter shifts with cold-rated gear. Dry buildings in July and August call for dawn starts and staged steel. Spring hail season can push a delivery date, so we hold flexible windows.

Before install, we walk the site with you. In an older Mesquite or Stemmons building, that visit comes first.
Where Drive-In Fits in a Full Layout
Most buildings use drive-in for one zone, not the whole floor, and that is usually the smartest way to apply it. Pick the deepest, slowest-changing SKUs and give them the densest storage. A cold room might hold deep runs on drive-in while a dry area uses selective rack and a pick area uses carton flow.
